ALL ARE WELCOME HERE
This includes people of all ages
The presence of children at Beit Am is a gift, including during our prayer services.
We are all aware that kids can be noisy and wiggly, but they are the future of our community and the next generation of the Jewish people.
The way we welcome children in the Sanctuary directly affects the way they respond to Judaism and to one another. Let’s be sure to allow them to feel at home here.
Please welcome each child by name, smile at them, and compliment them on their time in the service, letting them know we are happy that they are present.
To adults with little ones, we say, “Relax.” We encourage you to sit toward the front where it will be easier for your kids to see and hear. It’s okay to quietly explain what is going on, and their participation in the Torah Service (touching the Torah when it comes close and even following it through the Sanctuary) is a joy.
If your child needs a short break, that is fine. Baskets of toys and books, including children’s Siddurim, are available in the Gallery where the service can be heard on loudspeakers. Feel free to return to the Sanctuary when you are comfortable.
We hope to see you and your family soon. All are welcome here.
