Tisha B’Av—-is it a dream or an experience? 

Tisha B’Av aka the 9th day of the month of Av, is the day in the Jewish calendar when, as a people, we collectively dream of a lost home, and simultaneously begin the journey of return.   

Together we mourn the  destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem which occurred over 2500 years ago, and led to the exile of our people from Israel and the loss of our spiritual center.

Come welcome Shabbat with Rabbi Phil and his guitar, singing a mix of new melodies and old favorites! 

This year the Adult Education and Religious Affairs Committees are joining together to provide an opportunity to learn about the Jewish journey in preparing for our High Holy Days. We are offering a three part study of Rabbi Alan Lew’s book “This is Real, and You Are Completely Unprepared” to familiarize ourselves about the wisdom/power in our rituals, and guide us to take a deep dive into our September Holy Days/Holidays.

The holiday of Shavuot commemorates the revelation of Torah at Mt. Sinai, and the custom of Tikkun Leyl Shavuot (an into-the-night study session) on the eve of the holiday recalls the Israelites’ anticipation leading up to that moment and demonstrates that we, too, are ready to receive Torah.
