Prayer Services

Beit Am welcomes diversity in Jewish worship and seeks opportunities to accommodate its congregation. Religious Services are held on a regular basis. In all services men and women are counted in the minyan and are called to the Torah. Newcomers and visitors are most welcome at all the services. The schedule of services is included in the community events calendar. The schedule of the services uses these terms to describe the types of services being held on any particular date:

Friday Night Services

Shabbat Right in Time (Winter): Come welcome Shabbat with Rabbi Phil and his guitar, singing a mix of new melodies and old favorites! This service starts at 5:30 pm and ends by about 6:15 pm. Within that time frame, our service will be a little more "to the point." 

Twilight Kabbalat Shabbat (Summer): Come welcome Shabbat with Rabbi Phil and his guitar, singing a mix of new melodies and old 

Phil and his guitar, singing a mix of new melodies and old favorites!  This service starts at 7:30 and is a bit more “expansive.”

Saturday Morning Services

Or v’Simcha - “Light and Joy ”: 10:00 am  Celebrate Shabbat in a contemporary style with lots of singing and instrumental music! Our liturgy is a mix of Hebrew and English, and our Torah service highlights selected readings from the weekly parashah. 

Sim Shalom Service: 9:30 am Our traditional-style Shabbat service uses the Sim Shalom (Conservative movement) siddur with liturgy mostly in Hebrew, and includes a full triennial Torah reading, Haftarah, and Musaf. 

Other Offerings

Weekday Shaharit Service: Every Wednesday morning at 9:00 am  This is a lay-led traditional service in Hebrew using the Sim Shalom siddur.

Family Shabbat: 5:30 pm Welcome Shabbat with elementary school age kids and families at a fun Friday evening  gathering! Join Rabbi Phil for Shabbat melodies, a short  story, and a chance to practice the Friday night table ritual together. 

Learner’s Shabbat: Designed as an on-ramp to Shabbat engagement and offered periodically throughout the year on Friday nights and Saturday mornings, Learner's Shabbat is an opportunity to learn about Jewish prayer in an interactive, explanatory format. 

Newcomers and visitors are welcome at all the services.
