Who Is a Person and When Does it Matter?

Are you a person? How do you know? And, how does that empower or restrain your agency over matters of life or death?

Rabbi Phil and Rabbi Jonathan Seidel will co-teach this course in which we will explore definitions of person-hood within Jewish thought, as well as the ramifications that these definitions have for Jewish philosophical debates and contemporary ethical issues.  Each session will begin with presentation of relevant sources and key concepts, followed by response to or supplementation of that framing as a dvar acher (another opinion).  Remaining time will be dedicated to questions and discussion.
